Huawei confirmed that the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro will be launched on September 19th.
The Chinese technology giant has announced a live launch for its latest smartphones, which will take place in Munich, Germany.
On the tweeter account of the Chinese company, we read: '' Are you aware? The countdown for # Huaweimate30 begins now. See you in Munich on 19.09.2019.
It's unclear what operating system the phones will use, even though Android was tipped to power the Mate 30 and the Mate 30 Pro, after Donald Trump recently confirmed that the Huawei P30 Pro, P30 and Mate 20 Pro phones will get the update Android Q, and that Google has stated that they will not be allowed to sell their services to Huawei following the ban related to the trade war between Washington and Beijing.
However, Huawei President and CEO Richard Yu insisted that their new operating system, Harmony OS, will not replace Android.
Despite rumors that the company would have set up this system to be less dependent on Google, the CEO said they still intend to work with Android.
He said: "The phones that are currently on sale can continue to use Google.
"That's why we created HarmonyOS, for backup, in case we could not use Google in the future.
"So you can very well use HarmonyOS, which will have a better performance".
Richard Yu also said that they hope that HarmonyOS can be used on smartphones.
He said: "It will take a rather minor job to transfer applications from other ecosystems to Harmonyos, and the transfer of this ecosystem will be very easy."
Regarding the consequences that will occur once the company has been added to the list of companies with which US companies will not be able to trade - unless they are licensed - in the midst of national security concerns, and while the company was squeezed out of first place (in terms of volume of smartphones sold) by Samsung, Richard Yu said, "We want to develop the best products, the best innovations, and provide the best possible experience users.
"It's our goal and you can see that if this trade war had not taken place, we would have been very likely to be number one this year.
"So, this year, our market share may not be the most important, but we will keep the top two positions. For us, the market share is not the most important. Innovation, user experience, customer satisfaction are more important.
