Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced that its subsidiary Qualcomm Technologies has introduced the Qualcomm QTM 527 millimeter-wave antenna module for the Snapdragon X55 5G modem and the modem system (Modem-RF System), providing the world's first fully integrated extension  The Millimeter Wave 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) solution enables mobile operators to use their 5G network infrastructure to provide fixed-line broadband services to homes and businesses.

The Qualcomm QTM 527 millimeter wave antenna module extends the capabilities of the Snapdragon X55 5G modem and RF system to provide a comprehensive data-to-antenna platform for flexible, economical, and efficient 5G millimeter-wave user terminal equipment (CPE) products.  With its existing 5G millimeter wave technology leadership and high-power CPE solutions for Power Class 1 equipment, Qualcomm helps carrier and carrier accelerate the expansion of high-speed Internet access to suburbs with inadequate communications services.  Rural communities, as well as densely populated urban environments, offer plug-and-play, multi-gigabit cables and fiber optic alternatives.

Cristiano Amon, president of Qualcomm, said: "Our comprehensive Snapdragon X55 5G modem and RF system architecture and millimeter wave innovations can achieve the best 5G performance and scale. With the new extended range solution, we can create another millimeter.  A major breakthrough in the wave enables telecom operators to offer a wide range of enhanced fixed broadband services in urban, suburban and rural environments. OEMs will be able to rapidly develop large-scale portable client devices that operators can use for  Home and business offer fiber-like Internet connectivity and performance. This innovation is another example of the potential of 5G to transform the industry beyond smart phones, as we see in transportation, AR and VR, industrial manufacturing and other industries.  The change is coming."

The 5G fixed wireless access CPE can be deployed on the roof or window to receive 5G signals - skipping the "last å“©" fiber deployment normally required for indoor broadband.  The QTM527 millimeter-wave antenna module is the world's first high-power millimeter-wave antenna module for 5G FWA, providing fiber-optic performance within an extended range, enabling operators and OEMs to offer 5G multi-gigabits to a wider customer base.  Meta-speed and ultra-low latency, but also a wide range of coverage.

The Qualcomm QTM 527 millimeter wave antenna module is based on the previous millimeter wave technology breakthrough, extending 5G beyond the smart phone.  The QTM527 millimeter wave antenna module, which is imported into the Snapdragon X55 5G modem and RF system, supports up to 64 dual-polarized antenna elements for optimal and extended millimeter-wave range.  This complete system solution includes the latest millimeter wave technology, covering beamforming, beam steering and beam tracking for two-way communication, and supports global frequency bands, compatible with all major regions around the world.  The Qualcomm QTM527 millimeter wave module is sampling to customers, and the first high-power millimeter-wave CPE units are expected to ship in the first half of 2020.
